Artist: Edwin Hayes (1819-1904) was born in Bristol but spent much of his childhood living in Dublin, where his love of the sea developed. In 1842 he exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy and over a 49 year period, from 1855, he also exhibited at the Royal Academy. In addition Hayes exhibited with various other British institutes.
